Orphan Paws Project: How we started

Orphan Paws Project was founded in May of 2020 by a couple of veterinary students. With the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down both in-person classes and spay/neuter clinics throughout the state, they realized two things:

  1.  They need to find something to fill their newly acquired free time.

  2. Since feral (and domestic) cats are not able to be altered at local spay/neuter clinics, rescue groups in the Willamette Valley and surrounding areas are going to be even more overrun than they usually are by cats and kittens during kitten season.

And so, Orphan Paws Project was born!

Our mission

We focus primarily on TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) for local cat colonies whose populations are getting out of control. More spayed/neutered feral cats leads to less kittens getting born on the street. If we happen to find kittens at the trap site, we catch them, raise them, and adopt them out to loving families.
